International initiative Climate Quilt Campaign is working towards uniting children  around climate change, encouraging them to protect the environment.

Recently on display in Copenhagen, the Climate Quilt Campaign has been created by students who have designed “pledge patches” from recycled materials with their personal promises to preserve the planet.

Says Sharon Lowe, spokesperson:

“The Climate Quilt unites children all around the world through their hopes and dreams for the future of their planet.  The quilt holds the voices of the children whose future will be directly impacted by the decisions made in Copenhagen.”

Launched last September, the Climate Quilt Campaign began in the U.S. as an initiative of Habitat Heroes with two schools.  Since then, schools and organizations from across the  US, Australia, China, New Zealand, the UK, Philippines, Africa and South Africa have designed quilt panels.

Around the world, children can still participate through their schools or individually and contribute their own pledge patch.
