The Earth Awards have announced a call for entries by May 10, 2010. These global awards are searching for creative design innovations that will “change the way we live and pave the way to imminent sustainable revolution.”
Last year, the awards were first held in New York City and will be hosted in other major cities around the world to promote its “mission of bringing ecological thinking into popular culture.”
A panel of creative thinkers will serve as members of the Selection Committee to judge the awards. In 2010, The Earth Awards will travel to London.
The competition is accepting design submissions in six categories:
- Built Environment
- Fashion
- Products
- Systems
- Future
- Social Justice
All ideas, great or small, realized or prototypes, will be considered in six criteria: Achievable, Scalable, Measurable, Useful, Original and Ecological. The Earth Awards grand prize winner will receive $50,000 and category winners $10,000 each.
The Selection Committee will review a shortlist of six finalists, from May 17 – July 23, 2010, resulting with an exhibition in sustainable design. The Financial Times will hold a Sustainable Business Conference and gala dinner inviting CEOs, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to match innovation with investment.
