Looking for an international horse riding holiday? In Kenya, equestrian travel experts, In the Saddle, have designed a horse riding safari with luxury lodge Borana.
In the foothills of Mt Kenya, Borana is a luxury lodge situated on the Laikipia Plateau. The lodge has 35,000+ acres with spectacular wildlife, views and the opportunity learn about conservation issues.
Borana says it’s committed to preserving the local wildlife, habitat and people sharing the land. The lodge says a proportion of all revenue generated at Borana goes towards sustaining the surroundings for projects including Hide & Sheep Ltd, the Borana Forestry Project and the Education Support Programme. Each guest at the lodge also pays a conservation fee per night.
The seven-night horse riding safari, Pole Pole Laikipia, will enable guests to immerse themselves in nature and local culture. After their plane lands, guests will drive through the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and view wildlife including endangered black and white rhino and Grevy’s zebra. Conservation experts will speak on how travelers can play a part in sustaining the fragile local eco-system. Guests will meet village families who will share their ways of life.
“From riding through trees full of rare little red patas monkeys and learning about raptor conservation, (they’ll see) the ever watchful reticulated giraffe whose numbers are on the incline,” says Borana.
