National Geographic Traveler has published The World’s Best Lodges issue.
“This year marks the 125th anniversary of the National Geographic Society. The lodges we selected capture the Society’s spirit of exploration and commitment to the environment,” says National Geographic Traveler’s associate editor Amy Alipio.
Among the world’s best lodges named in the issue is Jetwing Vil Uyana in Sri Lanka (below). The Sri Lankan property joins the list of lodges around the world including the countries South Africa, Greece, China, Poland, and Indonesia.

Opened in 2006, Jetwing Vil Uyana, one of Sri Lanka’s best eco-resorts, is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The resort features 25 dwellings situated over five distinct habitats: Water, Forest, Paddy, Marsh and Garden.
In Sri Lanka, the resort is located close to the country’s famous Rock Fortress of Sigiriya. A haven for nature, Jetwing Vil Uyana has a lush array of flora and fauna on the property. Another special feature of the resort is the frequent appearance of the rare primate, the grey slender loris.
