Intrigued by birding?   If you’re a budding birder, you might fancy the Quadrille book Birdsong, a bird identification book by birding experts Jonathan Elphick, Lars Svensson and Jan Pedersen.

In the nature book, birders can read about, see and hear the voice of 150 British and Irish birds.

The book features the cries and songs of:

  • Birds of prey: Red Kite, Osprey and Peregrine Falcon;
  • Gulls found on the UK coasts and the centre of towns;
  • Garden birds: Blackbird, Song Thrush, Robin, Wren and Blue Tit and
  • Migrant birds: the Cuckoo, the Swifts, the Redwing and Fieldfare.

These recordings also highlight mating and challenging sounds like the Woodpecker drumming their beaks rapidly against a hollow tree-trunk.

Some of the book’s fascinating bird facts include that the Great Tit produces over 50 different songs.
