Are you a boomer traveler planning extended family holidays?
You’re not alone. New research studies indicate the role by grandparents in everyday family life is increasing the demand for extended family holidays.
An extended family break can lead to strengthening ties between the generations within a family.
If you’re planning extended family holidays, ensure you purchase senior travel insurance.
When you’re planning and packing for your holiday, take a look at the excellent tips on Good2Go travel checklist.
The findings come from holiday operator Eurocamp and family website Netmums which studied the habits of 1,000+ families in the United Kingdom.
Says Chris Hilton, spokesperson, Eurocamp:
“Over recent years, we’ve become aware of significant growth in demand for family holidays that include at least one set of grandparents….This ‘Gramping’ has become a niche market for us that, as well as offering free child places, we also offer a ‘grandparents go free’ deal – enabling adults to spread the cost of the family holiday, share child-care and enjoy quality time together as a family within a holiday environment.”
Here are more interesting research findings:
- “75% of parents with young children are planning a summer holiday with grandparents in 2011.”
- “Eurocamp reports a 325% increase in extended family holiday bookings over the last two years.”
- “The main motivation for booking an extended family holiday was ‘to spend quality family time together’ (65%).”
- “Saving money was a factor in 38% of bookings.”
